OVERCHARGE ALERT!!!!! I'm a semi-retired electrician and mechanic. I didn't feel like getting under my Jeep in the Florida heat and changing a starter I could purchase for $79 RETAIL COST, so I went to this establishment to get the work done.
Mind you, the work is super easy comprised of 3 connections and 2 bolts. At best this is a 15 minute job. Starters are very accessible from underneath.
One hour later I walked by and saw my car suspended to one side on one jack, not even on a lift. I went inside to meet the owner and as I was talking to him about my car he silenced me saying "you don't know what else can be wrong". RED FLAG!

My total cost, a few dollars shy of $250. He woudn't take American Express because I know I could have disputed the charge so I paid by other means.

He gives me this 1950s style chinsey looking carbon copy of a written receipt and told me I had a 1 year warrantee. Yeah, you guessed it, The starter is probably refurbished and probably cost him $30 at best. So I was charged $220 for a 15 minute job. It's an American made Jeep not a BMW!!! I will be putting in a complaint with the BBB as well.

He does work for many other mechanics in the area and he can't get away with overcharging them, but as a drive in customer? You better off going to those other mechanics.
